Wanted: Your Cross-cultural Stories

Have you ever found yourself in a cross-cultural situation at school? With a student? A parent? Or maybe a colleague?

Maybe this situation was resolved successfully for everyone involved. Or maybe it wasn’t. Perhaps you knew exactly how to address the situation. Or maybe you’re still wondering what happened, why it happened, and how you could respond differently next time.

We’d love to hear your story.

Why? Because our experience indicates that many K-12 teachers want to increase their intercultural competence to the high level needed to teach 21st century students successfully.

But there just aren’t many tools out there that are practical, based on solid intercultural theory, and focused on K-12 education. We seek to fill this gap by creating a book and online materials for current and pre-service teachers.

We know that teachers learn best from other teachers. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for teachers at all grade levels, who teach all subjects, in a variety of locations to share their stories.

Will you help us get this project going by taking the short survey below?

Who’s the “We” in Us?

We’re Drs. Darla Deardorff and Cate Brubaker. We’ve both been teachers in the U.S. and abroad, and our passion is working with teachers who want to grow their intercultural competence. We both live in North Carolina, but we’ve worked with teachers all over the world.
