About

Isn’t it interesting that we all grow up learning a culture? And even more interesting, that school is one of the places where we learn it?

We at CulturallyTeaching are fascinated by this connection between education and culture. A favorite elementary school teacher, a student’s interaction with her host mother, even a photo of a school lunch – these stories communicate culture!

Our mission is simple:

1. Document stories about education across cultures

2. Help others become more cross-culturally effective

I’m crazy about intercultural education, documenting things, and my travel backpack.
And Blue Mountain Coffee.
Have you had real Blue Mountain Coffee?
It’s the best.
My big huge would-this-ever-be-possible dream: capture educultural stories from people in every country in the world.
While visiting every country in the world.
With my husband.
Who I’ve been married to for nearly 10 years.
I could very easily live out of my backpack for a couple years.
I grew up in Oregon but live in Carrboro, North Carolina.
I still consider myself an Oregonian.
I’ve also lived in Germany and traveled/worked in Europe, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
I carry my camera, FlipCam, and journal everywhere I go.
In 2010 I’m committed to doing one new thing every week.

Originally from Romania, I’ve studied and taught in Romania, France, and the US. After earning a Master’s degree in intercultural communication from Indiana University, Bloomington I moved to North Carolina, where  I live with my husband and daughter.

Currently, I work as an advisor for international teachers coming to teach in the U.S. and also deliver intercultural workshops to K-12 teachers.

I’ve been in the EFL/ESL field for over 11 years. I’ve recently returned to Argentina after living and teaching in Greensboro, North Carolina as a cultural exchange teacher for nearly 3 years.

In the U.S. I taught middle and high school ESL (English as a Second Language), but now that I’m back home in Argentina I’m teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language). I’m also pursuing an M.A. in English and Spanish as Foreign Languages from the Spanish Universities of Jaén and León.
