Pamela and I are working on a project that helps students develop their cultural, language, and technology skills (we’ll share the project with everyone in a couple weeks).
So when I was in Argentina in September, Pamela planned her classes so I could visit some of her students right around the time they were working on the project. She also had them prepare questions in English to ask my husband and me. And I brought peanut butter, jam, and Halloween candy to share with the kids.
The night before we were to visit Pamela’s classes, she got a phone call. School was canceled. The teachers needed to vote on something, it was decided that students wouldn’t go to school that day.
We were bummed. But it turned out ok because I got to visit Patricia’s fabulous students (see photos from these schools here and here), I’m going to do a Skype chat with Pamela’s students at some point, and I got to see one of Pamela’s schools because she had to go there to vote.
Here are photos of one of Pamela’s schools.
It’s a rurual school in the very north of Pategonia. Actually, it’s a school Pamela wrote her School Snapshot about earlier this year.
This is the entrance to the school. Half of the day it’s an elementary school. The other half it’s a middle school. I think these kids came to school to eat lunch. Even though classes were canceled, the school still provided lunch.

One of the classrooms Pamela teaches in.
This is how they fold their national flag in Argentina. Instead of folding it flat, as we do in the U.S., they fold it so the sun is facing up.

Hola! I am a 10 year old 5th Grader who has to write an entire postcard message in Spanish (not my best subject) – like I was vacationing in Argentina!! I have to print out a nice photograph of Argentina and then write a message to my teacher (or a friend) telling them about my experience there!
Do you have any good photos you could email me that I could print out of home? Perhaps of a beach, waterfalls or tourist attraction in your country? I have found several nice pictures on-line, but when I try to print them out, they are faded or copyright protected, so they do not come out right!
Thanks in advance for any help!
Connor
