Welcome, FAAPI conference attendees! Thanks to everyone who attended my plenary on Friday.
Here are links to the free online resources I mentioned at the end of the session:
1. What’s Up with Culture
Although this site was created for U.S. study abroad students, it offers great intercultural information and several interactive activities.
2. Absolutely Intercultural
Great podcasts involving people around the world.
3. Culture Matters: Peace Corps Cross-cultural Workbook
Activites for primary and secondary students. You can download the workbook in English or Spanish.
And here are some articles from this website, CulturallyTeaching, that relate to the topics I discussed on Friday:
:: What do Moonwalking and Culture Have in Common?
:: Using Icebergs, Trees and Software to Talk About Culture
:: I or We? How Individual- or Group-Orientation Influences Cultures…and Education
:: Individualism and Collectivism :: Personal Examples
:: Individualism and Collectivism :: What Does this Cultural Dimension Have to Do with Education?
Please don’t hesitate to contact me - I’d love to hear from you!

Hi Cate! How was the trip back home? My students are eagerly waiting for the photos and videos! Pls tell me when you upload them. It was a pleasure for us all to have you among our guests speakers. A big hug from Argentina! Pat
Hi Pat! We had a nice trip back to North Carolina, but we enjoyed Argentina so much, we didn’t want to leave! I’ve been sorting through all of my photos and videos (2.5 weeks worth = 400 videos and 1000+ photos!)…I plan to post the photos/videos on the blog (and Flickr) next week. I’ll email you with the dates so you can tell your students. Take care and keep in touch!
