Time for kids.
This quiz is from a one-page activity for young students called Schoool Years Around the World. It’s from the November 2001 edition of Time for Kids.
In this activity, students look at a chart and compare how many years children are expected to attend school in several different countries. Then they answer a few questions about the chart.
If you’re outside the U.S., you may need to alter the handout because it’s targeted towards North American students (see question 3). This short activity could complement the online UNICEF packet about schools around the world. And it ends with a question that could start a great conversation among students or even start an entire unit: Why do you think the number of years children go to school is different around the world?
I’m wondering, how many teachers explore schools around the world as a way to teach students about other countries and cultures?
