Did you know that today is International Children’s Day? International Children’s Day, which is always on June 1st, is a huge deal in Romania.kids_day_spaceodisseyphoto by spaceodissey

Each city organizes various children’s events to celebrate this day. I remember streets being closed off for hours to cars, so that children could draw on the pavement, or simply play, or ride their bikes.

My mother, who teaches German to 3 to 7-year-olds, always gives her kids candy, and other little presents to celebrate them on this day. Many parents consider June 1st almost as important as their children’s birthdays, so presents are a must on this day.

Do you celebrate children today? How is this day celebrated in your school?
