In India, we celebrate teachers day on September 5th. It is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Radhakrishnan, one of our former Presidents, who loved children. Students go to school and it is a day to thank your teachers. In most of the schools I studies in (I have changed 7 schools as I travelled across different parts of India), students would put up performances for the entire school assembly and dedicate them to the teachers. Then everyone would go back to class and spend some time with the teachers who taught them (but the teachers didn’t have to teach on this day). Later, students from older classes would dress up as specific teachers and come to manage the class.
In Iran, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on May 2. It commemorates the assassination of Iranian professor Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari. The renowned writer, a timeless teacher, was executed on May 2, 1980. On the day, students offer flowers to teachers, to honor the sacred profession.
